Give the Gift of Scholarships

Help give Delaware State University (DSU) students the college education they deserve without the extra burden of financial stress. Consider donating to support scholarships at DSU or establishing a scholarship fund. More than 85% of our students receive some type of financial aid and a large number of our students are first-generation college students.  Additionally, DSU ranks among the top 1% in social mobility, graduating students from low-resourced communities at the same or a better rate than the general student population.

Donate to an existing scholarship fund

If you are interested in establishing an endowed or non-endowed scholarship fund for DSU students, please read the information below.

Establishing A DSU Non-Endowed Scholarship FUND

To establish a non-endowed named scholarship fund at DSU, a minimum donation of $3,000 is required. A named scholarship fund can be established with a down payment of $1,000 and a pledge commitment that must be fulfilled within three years. Once all scholarship payments have been received, scholarship awards can be made in increments as agreed upon by the donor until the fund has been depleted.

Scholarship recipients are chosen by the university’s Scholarship Committee based on criteria established by the donor in conjunction with staff of the Office of Development.

If the $3,000 minimum has not been donated by the donor or others within three years, the amount raised for the scholarship fund will revert to the Delaware State University Foundation General Scholarship Fund and will be awarded based on the criteria defined for the DSU Foundation General Scholarship Fund.

Establishing A DSU Endowed Scholarship FUND

Honor or memorialize family, friends, former professors, others or yourself and leave a legacy for students in perpetuity through a named endowed scholarship fund.

The minimum donation required to establish an endowed scholarship fund is $10,000. This can be paid in full via one payment or split over a number of installments over a defined period of up to three years.

Scholarship awards will not be made until the endowed fund corpus of $10,000 or more has been invested for a total of three years.  Additional contributions may be made by the Donor and the Donor shall permit others to contribute to this Fund, but all such gifts shall be subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Scholarship Agreement. If $10,000 has not been donated by the donor or others within three years, the amount raised for the endowed scholarship fund will revert to the Delaware State University Foundation General Scholarship Fund and will be awarded based on the criteria defined for the DSU Foundation General Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship recipients are chosen by the university’s Scholarship Committee based on criteria established by the donor in conjunction with staff of the Office of Development. Donors are apprised of the recipients of the scholarship.
