NEW FRESHMEN and Transfer Students

It’s time to arrive for fall 2022! We look forward to welcoming you for the fall semester.

This website contains important information about how you need to prepare, so please read carefully and continue to check the site for updates as your arrival day approaches.

SATISFY ALL FINANCIAL AND ENROLLMENT OBLIGATIONS

All new students MUST COMPLETE the following in order to be “cleared” to move in to the residential halls and/or attend classes.

  • PAYMENT: Satisfy your financial obligations with the Office of Student Accounts no later than August 8 (payment due date).

  • HEALTH FORM: Submit your completed health form to the Office of Campus Health Services and complete your electronic forms online via the Student Health Portal no later than July 15 (due date). As part of your student health form, you must submit proof of all required vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccination and booster (if eligible), immediately (due date was July 15).

  • TRANSCRIPT(S): Submit your final official high school transcript (must be signed with graduation date) or final official college transcript (if applicable) by mail to the Office of Admissions, Delaware State University, 1200 N. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901 or have your high school counselor submit it to admissionsdocs [at] desu.edu no later than July 15 (due date).

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO ARRIVING ON CAMPUS

3 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL, CONFIRM A NEGATIVE PCR COVID-19 TEST RESULT

3 days prior to arrival, all residential students and commuter/nonresidential students receiving on-campus academic instruction must confirm a negative PCR COVID-19 test result (not a Rapid Test Result ) by uploading it at www.desu.edu/student-life/campus-health-services/coronavirus/covid-test-…. Select “Fall 2022 Student Arrival COVID Test Results” from the event drop-down menu.

All test results must include your name and the date the test was taken. 

Once you upload your negative test result, you will receive a badge which you will be required to display upon your arrival on campus. If you test positive, you will need to isolate at home for 10 days and follow up with Campus Health Services for medical clearance.

RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS:

Please refer to the assignment email you received from the Department of Housing and Residential Education for your arrival day.
If your move-in date is August 22, have your test August 19.
If your move-in date is August 23, have your test August 20.
If your move-in date is August 24, have your test August 21.
If your move-in date is August 25, have your test August 22.
If your move-in date is August 26, have your test August 23.
If your move-in date is August 27, have your test August 24.

NOTE: YOUR COVID-19 TEST SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN MORE THAN 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR MOVE-IN/ARRIVAL DATE.

It is recommended to make an appointment for testing in advance with Curative (www.curative.com) or another testing provider in your area (find testing locations at https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/community-based-testing-sites/index.html). 

COMMUTER STUDENTS:

Commuter/nonresidential students receiving on-campus academic instruction must confirm a negative PCR COVID-19 test result taken no more than 3 days before arrival on campus for the first day of on-campus instruction.

It is recommended to make an appointment for testing in advance with Curative (www.curative.com) or another testing provider in your area (find testing locations at https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/community-based-testing-sites/index.html).

SUBMIT YOUR UNIVERSITY ID PHOTO

Submit two photos to idoffice [at] students.desu.edu  for your University ID card in order to make sure your ID is ready for you to pick up during move-in week. The photos have very specific requirements. Please visit “Submit Your University ID Photo Online” under Step 10 at https://www.desu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-students/accepted-students for the full information. 

ARRIVING ON CAMPUS

RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS  

  • Move-in for new residential students will take place Monday through Wednesday, August 22-24. Please see your email from the Department of Housing and Residential Education for your move-in day (between 9 a.m.-4 p.m.).
  • Please note: Students who will reside on the DSU Downtown campus must report to the main campus first for check-in.
  • Students are asked to bring no more than two guests to campus; those two guests may enter the building to help you unload items. All guests and students are required to wear face masks indoors on campus and are strongly recommended to wear them outdoors in crowded spaces.

COMMUTER STUDENTS

  • Commuter/nonresidential students receiving on-campus academic instruction must act on the requirements in the sections above prior to your arrival on campus for in-person classes. Commuters are not required to report to campus in advance of the start of in-person classes.

  • If you need to satisfy your enrollment obligations, please do so virtually on Monday, August 22, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. using the following link:https://desu.webex.com/meet/DSUAdmissions

  • If you need to pick up your student ID, you can report to the Office of Admissions on the first floor of the Claibourne D. Smith Administration Building when you arrive on campus.
     
  • Note: If you receive a housing assignment prior to or after receiving this email, you will need to submit a negative PCR COVID-19 test prior to moving in.

ARRIVING ON CAMPUS FOR RESIDENTIAL MOVE-IN

Please note: If you are currently exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, have been in direct contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19, or did not confirm a negative COVID-19 test result prior to arrival, please DO NOT report to campus.

Note: If you arrive on campus with a positive test result, you will be required to return home. Please do not come to campus if you are not feeling well.

Face masks are required indoors on campus and are strongly recommended outdoors in crowded spaces.

ENTER CAMPUS THROUGH GATE 2

Gate 2 is the second gate on College Road west of Route 13/North DuPont Highway.

DISPLAY YOUR BADGE SHOWING PROOF OF A NEGATIVE PCR COVID-19 TEST

Upon entry, you will be required to show the badge you received when you successfully uploaded your negative PCR COVID-19 test result to the website in the testing section above. Upon confirmation, you will receive a wristband. Please wear your wristband throughout your arrival day.

You will be directed to the next step in your arrival process.

SHOW YOUR HORNET EXPRESS FASTPASS OR SATISFY YOUR ENROLLMENT OBLIGATIONS

After your COVID-19 testing confirmation, please be prepared to do one of the following:

  • Show your Hornet Express FastPass: If you successfully completed all of your required enrollment steps in advance and were emailed a Hornet Express FastPass on August 19, you will be directed to your residential hall following the COVID-19 test confirmation process.
    • Note: Upon arrival to your assigned residential hall, no more than 15 minutes will be allowed for you to unload your vehicle, at which time you will be directed to park in a secondary parking lot.
  • Visit the Bank of America Building to satisfy your enrollment obligations: Following the COVID-19 test confirmation process, if you have financial or other enrollment obligations to satisfy, you will be directed to meet with student services representatives in the Bank of America Building between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the day of your arrival. One parent will be permitted to enter the building with you if needed to handle business.
    • Once you have satisfied your enrollment requirement(s), you will be issued an electronic blue Clearance Card for move-in and directed to your assigned residential hall.
    • Upon arrival, no more than 15 minutes will be allowed for you to unload your vehicle, at which time you will be directed to park in a secondary parking lot.
